This Is What You Must Definitely Know in Your 20s
In your 20s, you’re constantly told: You can do anything, be anything, and go anywhere. It sounds motivating, doesn’t it? But when it comes down to it, is this really helpful advice?
At first, I bought into it. I believed if I worked hard enough, I could shape myself into anything. But then, I came across a quote that completely changed the way I thought about success and fulfillment:
“You can’t be anything you want, but you can be a lot more of who you already are.”
That simple statement hit me deeply. It made me realize that I had been chasing an ideal that didn’t align with who I truly am.
Breaking Free from Unrealistic Expectations
After graduation, I jumped into the mindset that if I just worked hard enough, I could achieve anything. I was inspired by the stories of people defying the odds — those underdog success stories where sheer effort led to remarkable accomplishments. Naturally, I assumed I could do the same.
So, I pushed myself into areas that didn’t really suit my natural strengths. I took on challenges that I wasn’t naturally inclined towards, thinking that effort alone would get me where I wanted to be.
